Certain Essential handsets are pre-installed with a device management tool that allows Essential to lock your handset if your device is lost or stolen.
For eligible devices, this ensures that no one other than you can access your device as it will be locked, and we would need to unlock it on your behalf upon your request.
We reserve the right to lock the device if payments are continually not met, or in a circumstance where we are required to lock your device. Whilst the product is under contract, we are unable to remove this software - this is stated in the terms and conditions of the contract at the time of application. Once the contract is paid in full, you can request for this tool to be removed and we will action this for you.
*Please rest assured that the device management tool has no ability to view your data usage, apps, messages, photos etc. It is used as a security tool. If your item is lost or stolen, you simply need to let us know, and we can remote-lock the phone so that no one else can use your item. If the item is attempted to be on-sold, this will also identify to a Cash Converters-type store, that this phone is contracted by us - so they'll contact us and we can streamline getting your device back to you as soon as possible.
